Limited Warranty for VAIO Notebook Computer Devices
1. Limited Warranty Period for Phone Support. VAIO may offer 90 days of Complimentary Limited Technical Support by phone without a fee. Thereafter, there may be an additional service fee for phone support. The Contact Center Support hours is Mon – Fri, 9am to 5pm. Sat, Sun and Public Holidays are excluded.
2. VAIO provides a Limited Warranty of twelve (12) months Carry-In Hardware Repair which include parts and labour if there is a defect in materials or manufacturing workmanship. The NBD Onsite Repair hours are Mon-Fri, 9am to 5pm. Sat, Sun and Public Holidays are excluded.
3. This Default Limited Warranty covers the battery pack with the following conditions:

Battery cannot be powered: Yes

Battery cannot be charged: Yes

Battery is not recognised: Yes

Battery is swollen (i.e. bloated): Yes

Battery run time has decreased: Not Applicable

Deterioration of the battery run time: Not Applicable

Every VAIO Laptop has a Battery Protection Function in its VAIO Control Center program. For customer who needs to plug in the AC Adaptor into the laptop for long periods of time when they work, then to maximally benefit from good battery life, the customers have to turn on the Battery Protection Function.
4. This Default Limited Warranty covers hardware repair only. Software support (e.g. data backup) and accessories such as connection cables, power cords are excluded in the warranty entitlement.
5. This Default Limited Warranty covers the power adaptor within twelve (12) months of the original purchase date as shown on the original proof of purchase.
6. The Default Limited Warranty Entitlement start date shall be based on the end user’s equipment purchase date as shown on the original proof of purchase.
7. The Default Limited Warranty defect handling of all VAIO product will be carry-in repair. There is no one to one DOA unit exchange.
8. If the customer purchase the VAIO product with a Bundled Warranty Upgrade from a VAIO Authorized Reseller (e.g. VAIO 5 year onsite repair warranty), the Default Limited Warranty Entitlements will be upgraded accordingly.
9. Customer must have warranty registration performed or present the original proof of purchase to VAIO for verification before a warranty repair service is rendered. Failure to produce the relevant evidence will render the product as Out of Warranty. In this case, Labour and Parts fees will be charged for the relevant hardware repair.
10. All warranty repairs whether Default Limited Warranty or Upgraded Warranty will cover VAIO hardware repair only. VAIO is not obliged to assist the end user to perform any software procedures such as Data Back-up, Operating System updates, and other un-related software installations and updates.
11. During a hardware repair, the Laptop HDD or SSD media may need to be reformatted and the data in such media will be wiped out. It is the end user’s responsibility to ensure that a relevant data backup is performed before a repair. This will allow the end user to restore the data after a repair.
12. VAIO or its Authorized Service Providers shall not be liable for any data, records or program lost due to a repair.
13. All warranty service is offered to the computer for defect(s) caused under normal usage. The warranty is null and void under the following circumstances if:

the computer has been damaged or has failed due to accident, cabinets/cosmetic damage, abuse, liquid spill or submersion, neglect, misuse, unauthorised modification, extreme environment, extreme physical or electrical stress or interference, fluctuation or surges of electrical power, lightning, static electricity, fire, acts of God or other external causes;

the computer, included hardware and preloaded software, has been modified, altered and/or repaired by persons other than VAIO or its Authorized Service Providers;

the serial number has been altered, effaced or removed;
14. In rendering a hardware repair, VAIO may use parts that are new or refurbished but are equivalent in performance and reliability.
15. Any defective part which has been replaced (e.g. HDD/SSD Media), is the property of VAIO and will be repatriated by VAIO after a hardware repair.
